Ty turns 1!

Today is Ty's first birthday!!!  His first year of life flew by so fast!  Sadly Ty had a cold on his birthday, but he was still pretty happy.
We celebrated with just our little family.  After dinner, we gave Ty his own cake smash cake.  We made him a baseball cake.
And cupcakes for the rest of us.
As destructive as Ty is, I expected him to really destroy his cake, but surprisingly he didn't!  He stuck one of his hands in the cake and then just sat there and starred at his hand like "now what." The girls were disappointed.  They wanted to see a real show, but he wouldn't deliver.  The one time I was allowing him to make a real mess, he wanted nothing to do with it.
After we cleaned up his one hand, he opened his presents.
His favorite gift was his new carseat!  Yay no more pink carseat!!!  He climb in it, sat in it, and played with the buckles.
Ty has been such a joy.  His sisters adore him and always want to be around him.  Marshall loves having another male in the house and Ty loves his Dad! I just can't get enough of Ty. He is such a mamas boy, but I wouldn't want it any other way!  We are so happy he is a part of our family!  Happy Birthday Ty man!

1st day of Preschool

Eden's first day back to preschool was Monday. This is her second year at St. John's Preschool.  Her teachers are Miss Honi, Miss Toni, and Miss Shannon.  She was very excited to go back.  Her preschool is Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.  She also has a speech class on Tuesday mornings for 2 hrs at the elementary school.  Her speech has really improved from last year but they still thought she could use the speech therapy again this year.  She gets to ride the bus with Addison to speech. She thinks that is pretty neat.  We love Eden and her spunky personality.

Peaches & pears

I need to toot my own horn for a minute. This week I canned 29 quarts of peaches  and 25 quarts of pears.  This is the first time I have canned anything by my self. It took a lot of time but it will be well worth it this winter when we can eat yummy fruit.
Canning is something my mom did a lot of when I was a kid.  We always had a huge garden and she would can green beans, tomatoes, carrots, peaches, pears, salsa, jams, etc.  I love that's she taught me by example the importance of having a food storage and taking care of her family.  I only did fruit this year.  Marshall says if the world comes to an end we will at least have meat and fruit to survive on.  :)

Ahoy it's a Boy

I was very lucky to have an amazing group of friends in high school.  I think it is rare to find friends like mine.  We still try to keep in touch and love excuses to get together.  Thanks to Amanda, we got to get together for a baby shower.  Michele (Hillman) Rowell hosted it at her mom's house in Blackfoot.  Amanda is pregnant with her first baby, a boy.  She is beaming with the pregnancy glow.  I was in charge of the game.  I had to do the guess the candy bar inside the diaper game.  It totally grossed out Amanda (she has never in her life changed a diaper). It was funny to watch the reactions and facial expressions as each new diaper was revealed.
Debra, and Stacey were the winners.  Funny coincidence. . . They both have the most kids out of all of us (4 each).  Stacey said diaper changing is her life.  It was so great to see all theses ladies!

First lost tooth

Addison lost her first tooth.  She just turned 6.  Most of her friends have already lost several teeth so this was a day she has been waiting for.  Marshall pulled it out.  There were no tears (surprisingly). Just smiles!

Swimming Lessons

This summer we did swimming lessons for the first time. Before her lessons, Addison was great at doggy paddling, but I felt like it was time to get her some proper lessons.  The lessons were in Aberdeen.  The swim instructor has a big pool in her backyard where she teaches private lessons.  The lessons only lasted a week (5 days).  I was skeptical that an hour a day for 5 days wasn't enough time to really learn much, but I was pleasantly surprised.  By the last day, Addison swam the length of the pool with her face in the water.  She got pretty good at the back stroke as well.
Eden mostly learned how to not be afraid to put her face in the water as she swam.  She also learned breathing skills.
While Addy was working with the instructor, Eden liked to "snorkel".
The girls were able to practice their skills at Indian Springs.  The swim season is almost over.  We went one night last week and we were literally the only ones there.  It was awesome :)
We have had a great summer.  Fall is in the air.  We will miss our swimming fun. . . Until next year!

First day of first Grade

Addison had her first day of 1st grade.   Her teacher is Mrs. Hoag!  She is the teacher I hoped Addison would get, so I was thrilled.  AF doesn't send out teacher assignments until the week before school starts.  Addison also has a really good friend, Isabella in her class this year.  This year I had a hard time leaving her; it was harder for me than kindergarten. She gets on the bus at 7:30am and gets off the bus at 3:45pm. That's a long day for a 6 year old.  Her first day she came home pretty tired.  I'm sure she will get used to it after a while, but she is worn right out by bedtime.

Addison looked so cute for her first day.  We really only bought her a couple new outfits.  She really isn't into the new school clothes thing yet.  I'm sure sooner than later she will be.  We did splurge on a pair of new school shoes.  She wanted the twinkle toes sketchers that light up when she walks.  Can't believe she is an all day school girl.  I already miss having her home with me.  She is such a good kid!  I love her so very much!
