On the farm

The other night Marshall said he wanted to teach the kids how to work so we all went outside and helped him put up electric fence in our pasture. I think the kids did a lot more playing than working, but it was good for them to feel "helpful." Right now our "farm" animals consist of 2 cows, six calves, a dog, and a goat. Marshall surprised us with 2 chickens the other day. The girls were so excited. They laid 2 eggs. The next day our dog ate them (the chickens). Sad! Our dog eats mice and gofers, but I didn't think she would eat chickens. We thought wrong. I think we will stick to large animals from now on.
Eden can't quite get her hat on right :)
There we go.

Spring Break

This year spring break was a full week long. We didn't go anywhere far away or exotic, but we did a few fun things. We started by spending the weekend in Rigby. We had a fun Easter Party at Grandma Marilyn's. Grandma got the kids a cute spring outfit. We did an Easter egg hunt. The weather was great! The kids had a ball hunting for Easter eggs, they especially liked the eggs with dollars in them :)
Grandma making sure all the kids have equal amounts of money from the eggs.
A few days later, we went with a group of friends from our AF to a movie called, The Croods. There were six moms, one dad, and about 20+ kids. We joked that we should have gotten a big group picture because we probably looked like polygamists :). I took a picture of some of the kids. There were several missing. This was inside the theater so it turned out dark.

Next I took the kids to blackfoot to stay over at my parents house. Merrick also stayed with her kids because they were out for spring break also, so we had a big sleepover!

All the grandkids love to play dress up with grandmas old clothes & shoes.

I was able to meet up with my close friend, Anna from high school. She was in town as well. She has two cute little boys.
Saturday Jarred, Marilyn, and the kids came over for the day. They came to an Easter egg hunt in American Falls with us.

Lastly, Sunday after church we went to an Easter Party at Grandma & Grandpa Jones' house. We had a ham dinner outside. The sun was shining, it was in the mid 60's, and NO wind! Perfect! My parents have the perfect yard for hunting Easter eggs! There are so many places to hide them. I have great memories hunting eggs there as a child.
The girls and I are going to have a rude awakening when we have to get up early for school.  We spent most nights this past week staying up late and sleeping in.  It was fun while it lasted!

4 eyes

I got glasses and contacts for the first time in my life! I can't see things far away. I am amazed at how much better I can see now! I didn't realize how bad my vision was until I started wearing contacts. I think I FINALLY got the whole contact thing down. It took me about a week to be able to put them in in less than 5 minutes. The first time was rough! I think I was in the bathroom for at least a half hour trying to get them out :). I like having glasses for those lazy days when I don't feel like dealing with the contacts. Marshall said I look smart in glasses. If only they actually made me smarter :)

Overcoming a fear

Addy FINALLY got her ears pierced! Last July she wanted them pierced on her birthday. We took her. She was nervous. She said she would do it if Eden did it first. Eden was all for it. She sat there perfectly and didn't cry. Then it was Addy's turn. The lady cleaned her earlobes, got the earrings locked and loaded.... And Addy started to FREAK out! Bawling. screaming. kicking. A full on tantrum. I was so embarrassed. It looked like I was trying to force my child to pierce her ears, but I was just trying to talk her through it. After a couple minutes I realized she had her mind made up. We paid for the earrings (we had to since they opened the seal, they couldn't be resold) and high tailed it out of there!
Then, randomly Addy came home from school Friday (8 months later) and says she wants to pierce her ears. We went to Pocatello the next day. I took the earrings just in case. I called on the way down to make sure they had 2 people working so they could do both ears at the same time. They didn't they only had one. I told Addy, but she was still determined to do it. We got there and Barbara Chavez (our old neighbor) was there with her teenage granddaughter, getting her ears pieced. My thoughts were "oh great, Addy is going to chicken out again, and now there are people who we know to witness the tantrum." But to my surprise, she didn't chicken out! She was so brave. The first ear hurt her a little more than it should have because the back of the ear ring didn't clamp on. Luckily she went through with the second ear still. She was so happy afterward! She asked me to text all her friends and family!

Eden & Ali

Eden has a friend, Ali, who she loves. Ali's family is in our ward and Ali and Eden go to the same preschool class. I am in the primary, so on Sundays I get to watch them interact. Last Sunday they held hands all during sharing time.
Last weekend Ali came over because it was her mom and dads anniversary. When they get together they can be a little mischievous. They were playing in edens room and somehow the curtains got pulled down and the curtain rod was bent. When I went in Edens room to check it out Ali said, "Malory, I'm so sorry. It was all my fault. I told Eden to shut the curtains." How could I be mad after that! So nice of Ali to take the blame for Eden :)
Ali's mom and I both take our kids to story time at the library. They are always so cute together. I'm so glad Eden has such a good friend.

It's a girl!

Hallelujah, our cow had its calf! Born march 8, 2013. Marshall has been impatiently awaiting her birth! Now the Jensen family can move on with our lives! We have been home bound the last few weeks "just in case she calved". I kinda felt this cow got more attention and anticipation from Marshall than I did before giving birth to our children :). Not really, but there were days when those thoughts crossed my mind. To top off Marshall's excitement, she had a heifer (girl). He says now this is his replacement cow (baby maker). I'm glad she is here, healthy, and alive and my husband can sleep, and relax :)

Happy Un-Birthday

Addy got to celebrate her "birthday" today in her school class. It wasn't really her birthday, but her teacher assigned the kids with summer birthdays a day to celebrate! We took cupcakes to her class. There was also another boy in her class who was celebrating his real birthday. Sadly, the teacher told me his mom didn't want to bring treats for the class. This made me sad. I was happy Addison was assigned to celebrate on the same day as him so he at least got a cupcake on his birthday.
After school Addy came home and asked if we could go to Boondocks to celebrate some more :). Unfortunately, we weren't able to go, but I told her I would consider it for her real birthday in July! Good try Addy ;)
